VIDA’s “Faces of Fraud”: A Collective Movement to Break the Chain of AI-Driven Digital Fraud

JAKARTA, May 14, 2026 – Behind Indonesia’s digital fraud losses, which reached Rp9 trillion with more than 411,000 reported cases between November 2024 and the end of 2025, lies a far deeper impact than financial loss alone. A sense of security fades, reputations are damaged, and hope for the future can collapse. In response to this reality, VIDA, a digital identity and fraud prevention company, presents a narrative exhibition titled “Faces of Fraud.”

Through this initiative, five individuals behind real digital fraud cases courageously share their stories as part of a public education movement and a collective effort to combat digital fraud. They hope their experiences will stop with them and not happen to more people. By opening a more honest and human conversation, Faces of Fraud also aims to raise public awareness of increasingly sophisticated fraud methods, ranging from psychological manipulation, or social engineering, to account takeovers.

“Every face in Faces of Fraud represents someone who once trusted an identity security system, yet was left unprotected by its gaps,” said Niki Luhur, Founder and Group CEO of VIDA. “Through this movement, we want to open the public’s eyes to the fact that digital fraud leaves more than financial damage. It leaves emotional scars, loss of security, and lasting impacts on everyday life.”

Faces of Fraud
features stories from individuals of different backgrounds, from homemakers to professionals, proving that anyone can become a target of digital fraud:

  • Stolen Future: A retiree who lost his entire life savings after funds were rapidly transferred into crypto assets.
  • Identity Abuse: A victim whose personal data was used for illegal online loans without consent, leaving long-term psychological distress.
  • Manipulated Empathy: A parent who lost funds intended for their child’s medical treatment after falling victim to a fake donation scheme.

VIDA believes that combating the rapidly evolving threat of digital fraud cannot be done alone. The stories presented in Faces of Fraud serve as a reminder that behind every case is a real human impact. With this initiative, VIDA positions itself not only as a technology provider, but also as a partner for the public and businesses in building a safer and more trusted digital ecosystem.

Founder and Group CEO of VIDA, Niki Luhur, presents VIDA’s latest whitepaper titled SEA Digital Identity Fraud Outlook. The whitepaper highlights the evolving digital fraud landscape, which is becoming increasingly organized and difficult to detect, while emphasizing the importance of public awareness and layered digital identity protection in addressing AI-driven fraud risks.

VIDA’s whitepaper, SEA Digital Identity Fraud Outlook, reveals that modern fraud has become increasingly organized by combining multiple attack methods into a coordinated sequence. As long as public awareness remains low and the ecosystem fails to respond collectively, the number of victims will continue to grow. This is why stronger collaboration is needed, through robust regulation, stronger adoption of layered protection by businesses, and a society that becomes more critical of every digital interaction.

“We do not want the number of victims to keep growing. Faces of Fraud is our way of saying that all of us have a role to play in breaking this chain,” Niki concluded.
