Jakarta, 19 April 2021 – PT Indonesia Digital Identity (VIDA) becomes the first Certificate Authority in Indonesia that is listed as an Adobe Trust Service Provider in the Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL). AATL is a program that allows users to create digital signatures that are trusted whenever the signed document is opened in Adobe Acrobat, Acrobat Reader, or Adobe Sign. Adobe, a global leader in digital document experience and the inventor of PDF, is uniquely positioned to support secure digital document processes. If a user wants to make a digital signature on a document and share it, he or she needs document signing certificates issued by a Certificate Authority. With AATL certificates, the individual(s) viewing the document is not required to manually upload the certificate root chain locally on the device where the document is viewed. When any user receives a digitally signed document from a signer whose digital certificate can be traced back to a certificate on the AATL, that signature will automatically be trusted.

Document signing certificates must be stored in secure hardware. This is especially true for document signing certificates issued by Certificate Authority members of the AATL, as it is a mandatory requirement from Adobe. AATL certificate key pairs must be generated and stored in hardware security modules or smart cards that are FIPS 142-2 L2+ compliant. This requirement facilitates two-factor authentication (2FA) and also provides additional security, as the certificate private key cannot be tampered or exported from the hardware device; thereby eliminating the potential of key compromise by bad actors.
