Bali, September 6, 2023 – Consumers' trust in the use of electronic services is growing as the number of digital transactions and interactions increases. Consumer experiences in electronic transactions in terms of data protection have been a major concern following the enactment of the Personal Data Protection Law, known by the Indonesian acronym UU PDP. Consumers may switch, reduce, or even stop using digital services completely if they have a terrible experience with data security. A digital service transformation is needed to enhance consumer trust.
Research conducted jointly by VIDA and Katadata Insight Center revealed that digital identity in digital services will boost consumer trust by ensuring personal data protection, improving efficiency and accuracy, and simplifying and expediting services. About 88% of companies in Indonesia stressed the need to adopt digital identification technology to drive business growth. This emphasizes the importance of digital trust in the development of the digital ecosystem.
"Digital trust is a critical factor in accelerating digital transformation. The implementation of personal data protection plays a vital role in enhancing digital trust because it involves the security and integrity of individuals' personal information. Besides, implementing personal data protection in digital services can reduce risks associated with data misuse or information leaks, provide legal certainty that all services function ethically, and open up new economic opportunities," Pribadi Hasto Kusumo, AVP Partner Business Development and Marketing Partnership of VIDA, told the 2023 National Forum on Personal Data Protection on Thursday (31/8).
As an Electronic Certification Provider (PSrE) that is registered with Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, VIDA comes as a secure digital transformation solution that ensures personal data protection based on the UU PDP, which covers personal data control and processing, data storage, governance documents, information security, data reviews, and access control. Not only based on the law, VIDA also ensures that the privacy policies of all its services comply with the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology No. 11/2022 and other sectoral regulations and undergoes regular external audits on information security practices.
“Every day, we provide over 1.8 million online face verifications and transactions every second. VIDA is committed to accelerating digitalization by providing online identity verification, digital signatures, and simple authentication with privacy and security guarantees based on regulations,” he said.
Vida technology ensures the security of digital service users' personal data in all industries, including health, insurance, online transportation, e-money, e-commerce, online loans, banking, financing, and safe travel. This is done to reassure users as they face increasingly complex digitization. When personal data protection is implemented correctly, the acceleration of digital transformation becomes more structured, systematic, and long-term.
